What is classification?
Uniform description
Classification is the uniform description of product informationa ccording to an unambiguous, generally determined model. Classification is the task of manufacturers.
The manfuacturer can deliver the classified information (including images and PDF downloads) as a file to data pools (such as 2ba), where you as a wholesaler can download information. The manufacturer can also provide the data to the wholesaler directly.
The benefits of classification data
You can save a lot of time with the provided classification data. The product information is already fully available and thanks to the uniform format, it can be imported directly into your database. Entering data manually is a thing of the past!
With the classified data, you also always know that you have the correct product information; after all, it comes directly from the manufacturer. With the classified product information, you can provide your customers with very extensive information, which is a great help in making the right product choice.
Using classification
Downloading
As a wholesaler, you can download classified product information from a data pool or request it from the manufacturer.
The classified data is downloaded as an export file that can be read into your database (PIM system). It is important that the PIM system supports classification data; we therefore recomend using Catalogger PIM.
Management and enrichment
The classified data is loaded into Catalogger PIM, inclusing references to (any) associated images and PDF files. The imported data can be enriched with things like your own product information, promotional texts and own images / PDFs.
A separate structure can also be set up in addition to the classification structure, for your own product information format. This custom format can also be used for your online store and/or print catalog, for instance.
Using the classified data
From the PIM system, the classified product data can be used for every conceivable form of media! With Catalogger PIM, this can even be done fully automatically.
Classification data in your online store
The online store is probably the first place where you want to start showing the classified data. After all, that is where your extensive product information is directly available to customers and visitors. It is also possible to set the classification properties as filters, so that visitors can quickly find the right product.
Classification data in the paper catalog
The classified data can also be included in the paper catalog. In order to save space and printing costs, you may not want to present all product features. With Catalogger PIM, this is no problem. You select what data you want to use in Catalogger, after which the catalog is automatically generated with that dataset.
Datasheets with classified information
A datasheet may be the best place to include classified data; after all, it contains the most complete information about a product. Using classified product data, you can create very detailed datasheets.
